Novara Verifies Contractor Compliance at the Gate With New Visitor Management Module

Real-time check-in surfaces training and approval status at the point of site entry, giving high-risk hazardous industry operators a verified count of who is on site right now

Westminster, Colo. — Oct. 21, 2026 — Novara today released Visitor Management, a new module of Flex Contractor Risk Management that confirms a contractor’s training and approval status at the moment that person arrives at a work site. Sites in construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, and utilities can now see a live, verified count of everyone on the premises, replacing paper sign-in sheets and badge systems that record a name but confirm nothing about whether that person is cleared to be there.

The gap Visitor Management closes is a familiar one in high-risk industries. Contractor prequalification and control-of-work training happen weeks before anyone shows up. At the gate, that record disappears. A clipboard or a generic badge scan captures a name and a timestamp but not whether the person holding the badge completed hot work training or whether their employer is still an approved contractor. When an alarm sounds, the site has no fast way to confirm who is actually on the property. Visitor Management carries contractor compliance data to the point of physical access and keeps it current through the workday.

“We don’t have gate guards and high security at all of our sites, so a foreman being able to check a visitor in from his phone in a few seconds, rather than a process he views as laborious, is a must-have,” said Derek Buchinger, a Flex customer from Hooper Corporation.

Visitor Management uses the contractor qualification and training records already maintained in Contractor Risk Management to verify each person’s status at check-in. There is no second vendor, no separate login, and no reconciliation between a visitor log and a compliance system.

“Approving a contractor is only part of the job. You also need to know the people arriving at your site have met your requirements,” said Jade Hendrix, Chief Product Officer at Novara. “Visitor Management gives guards that information at check-in, including whether someone’s training is current and their employer is approved. It also gives safety teams a clear view of who’s on site throughout the day, without having to count names on sign-in sheets.”

Key Facts Verifying Contractor Compliance at Site Entry

Visitor Management extends Flex Contractor Risk Management from qualification into access control. Prequalification, insurance verification, and control-of-work training establish who is cleared to work before anyone leaves for the site. Visitor Management enforces that record at the gate and keeps a live account of who is on the property through the shift. Because both run on one data set, compliance status and physical presence are no longer two questions answered by two systems.
